Background
She trained in gilding in highly respected London workshops known for their carving and gilding, where she was fortunate to have worked on outstanding furniture and important projects from the outset.
This included furniture and architectural fittings from Windsor Castle following the fire in 1992 and architectural projects such as the gilding of the clock tower at Cliveden.
Over 25 years on, Emma’s practice continues to focus on fine historic furniture from around the UK and abroad. For the last 20 years, she has worked in collaboration with Hester Woodcarvers. They work alongside each other in the traditional manner so both structural work and missing carving can be crafted expertly prior to the required treatment of the gilded decoration.
